Licensing:
Arcturus Industries, LLC (”Arcturus Industries”), and its affiliates strive to promote future development in the field of VR tracking. Using their equipment, Arcturus Industries collected, annotated, transformed, synthesized and organized IMU and other tracking data in a dataset (the “DIPr Dataset”). By using or downloading the “DIPr Dataset”, you are agreeing to comply with the terms of this page and any licensing terms referenced below.
License - Data, Code, and Documentation.
”DIPr Dataset”, code, and any associated data or documentation are provided free of charge under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License (“CC BY-NC-SA 4.0”). The full text of the license is accessible at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/legalcode.
Using the DIPr Dataset Non-Commercially.
We license “DIPr Dataset” data and documents for non-commercial use only. Under the terms of the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 “non-commercial” means “not primarily intended for or directed towards commercial advantage or monetary compensation.” To assist you in determining whether your contemplated use is non-commercial, we make available the following examples:
Example 1, Acceptable Use:
You are a researcher at an academic institution, working on computer vision and prediction. You use “DIPr Dataset” dataset to further advance your research and publish results based on the “DIPr Dataset” benchmark. Your published paper includes imagery and figures derived from the “DIPr Dataset” dataset. The imagery and figures are attributed to “DIPr Dataset” and a hyperlink to the text of the CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license is provided.
Example 2, Acceptable Use:
You are a researcher at a virtual reality hardware company. You are submitting your IMU-based pose estimation algorithm to a major conference for public review. You use the “DIPr Dataset” dataset to train and evaluate your method. You publish the results of the comparison publicly. The “DIPr Dataset” data in your paper is attributed in accordance with the CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
Example 3, Unacceptable Use:
You are an engineer at virtual reality hardware company. You use the “DIPr Dataset” dataset to train a prototype of IMU tracking fallback algorithm. You use this prototype detection model as a placeholder until you build a large enough internal dataset to train your model against.
Example 4, Unacceptable Use:
You are an engineer at a company that produces a robotics platform for sale. You train the prediction machine learning model in your company’s product on data from the “DIPr Dataset” dataset. Your company releases the product for sale with the model you trained against “DIPr Dataset” data.
Suggestions:
If you use “DIPr Dataset” and identify areas that could benefit from changes, we would like to hear from you. Please submit any comments on the issues page of our GitHub repository. If you submit your changes, you may be required to confirm that your changes are subject to CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
Attribution.
Please follow the attribution guidelines provided in section 3.A. of CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license with the copyright notice being “© 2021-2022 Arcturus Industries, LLC”.
Marketing.
You may not use the Arcturus Industries’ trademark, logo, or name without Arcturus Industries express written permission in connection with “DIPr Dataset”.
Competitions:
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. BY ENTERING THIS CONTEST, EACH ENTRANT AGREES TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
Eligibility:
The contest is open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Eligible entrants can participate in the contest as an individual or as a team.
Contest Period:
All entries submitted from January 27, 2022 through April 30th, 2022 (“Contest Submission Period”) will be considered. Entries submitted before or after the Contest Submission Period will not be considered or eligible to win.
How to Enter:
To enter the contest, eligible entrants must (1) Register at https://dipr.ai/sign-up (the “Website”); (2) Access and use the “DIPr Dataset” data provided after sign-up; and (3) Submit files containing their predictions through the third-party submission process before the end of the Contest Submission Period
Personal Data:
While signing up to enter the contest, an entrant will be asked to provide personal information including the entrant’s name and email address. Arcturus Industries may use this information to contact entrants about their contest entries, and with other information about the “DIPr Dataset” and Challenge, and relevant future announcements. Entrants may (i) opt out of, or (ii) withdraw his or her consent from, receiving any or all of these communications from Sponsor (unless required to provide the contest to the entrant) by responding to any received email with “Unsubscribe”
Limit per Individual/Team:
A maximum of 2 submissions per week and a maximum of 20 submissions in total.
Selection and Notification of Winners:
Winners will be notified by email in April 2022. A winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected if a selected winner fails to comply with these terms and conditions; cannot be contacted; or is ineligible.
By entering this contest, each entrant agrees that his or her biographical information, and other content provided by entrant and members of his or her team, may be publicly announced and posted in connection with the contest, including, without limitation, through posting online. An entrant can withdraw his or her consent at any time for the future. An entrant’s withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before the withdrawal. Where an entrant provides information or content of his or her team members, the entrant warrants that the respective individuals have consented to the publication of such information as described above.
All decisions of Arcturus Industries regarding the selection of winners, notification, and substitution of winners in accordance with these terms and conditions shall be binding and final. Winners will be determined as specifically described above, and not using any random drawing or method incorporating chance.
Prize Details:
The first-place winning entry for the contest will be awarded a $2,500.00 cash prize.
In addition, a $1,500.00 cash prize will be awarded to the 2nd place entry and a $1000.00 cash prize will be awarded to the 3rd place entry.
Please note that only one cash prize will be made to the winning and honorable mention entries, regardless of whether the entry is submitted by an individual or a team. Moreover, an entry has to beat the Arcturus Industries provided solution in order to win. To the extent a winning entry is submitted by a team, the members of such team will be responsible for allocating the cash prize. All cash prizes will be paid in U.S. currency, and will be subject to local, state, and federal tax law based on each winner’s residency.
Copyright and Moral Rights:
By entering this contest, entrants warrant to Sponsor that they created their contest entries, that they own all of the copyright interests in the materials submitted in connection with those entries, and that Sponsor’s use of such entry materials in accordance with these terms and conditions will not infringe any person’s intellectual property rights or other legal rights. Entrants agree not to share their solution directly with Arcturus Industries, and only to submit solutions to the specified 3rd party who has agreed to only share final metrics, but no submission details, with Arcturus Industries. Nevertheless, if Arcturus Industries does for any reason become exposed to any details of entrants’ solutions, entrants grant Arcturus Industries a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, sub-licensable and irrevocable license to copy, store, modify, transmit, use, and publish all entry materials including algorithms, predictions, and other components of their contest entries.
Disqualification/Termination/Modification of the Contest:
Individuals who tamper with or abuse any aspect of this contest or the Website, as solely determined by Arcturus Industries, will be disqualified.
If for any reason this contest is not capable of running as planned due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Arcturus Industries which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, Arcturus Industries reserves the right at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the contest, in whole or in part, at any time, without notice. Should any such action be taken, Arcturus Industries may determine a winner from valid, non-suspect entries received prior to action taken, or otherwise as deemed fair and equitable by Arcturus Industries.
Limitations of Liability and Release:
Arcturus Industries is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or undelivered entries, or for lost, interrupted or unavailable satellite, network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), Website, or other connections availability, accessibility or traffic congestion, miscommunications, failed computer, network, telephone, satellite or cable hardware or software or lines, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic or network. Further, to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law, Arcturus Industries is not responsible for any injury or damage to entrants or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from participation in this contest.
By entering the contest, to the extent permitted by applicable law, each entrant agrees to release and hold Arcturus Industries, its affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies, officers, directors, employees, agents, and any other companies participating in the design, administration or fulfillment of this contest and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents, harmless from any and all losses, rights, claims, injuries, damages, expenses, costs or actions of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from entrant’s participation in this contest, including any such matters arising from any contest-related activity, including but not limited to, selection of winners, or acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize or parts thereof.
Changes:
Arcturus Industries may change the terms of the dataset, code, and competition at any time. Changes will be posted on this website and may also be sent to all individuals who signed up.
